Taliban launches massive attack on Afghan city of Kunduz
A militant group based in Afghanistan, Taliban, has launched a massive attack on the Afghan city of Kunduz.
The information has been publicised by the Afghanistan government. The Taliban has also confirmed the report.
At this moment, it remains unclear how many have been affected due to the intense conflict emerged in the region between the Afghan forces and the Taliban militants.
According to the statement given by the government, the militants have taken shelter in the civilian regions.
This is not the first time that the militants have tried to capture this Afghan city. Earlier, in the year 2015, it made a failed attempt. And, a year later that, the same repeated. In both these occasions, it was a US-supported Afghan force that pushed the militants out of the territory.
The attack has come at the time the Taliban is discussing peace with its all-time rival, United States.
The Taliban controls more than one-fourth of Afghanistan at this moment. It is in a very powerful position now, much better that what it was during the initial days of the US invasion in Afghanistan.
The US is desperate to end its eighteen year long war against the militant group. The militants portray that desperation as their victory. It is that desperation that emboldens the militants to try everything to win the country.
The big question is: how far is the Afghan solution.
