South Korean YouTuber Harassed In Mumbai While Live-streaming, 2 Arrested

According to the police, two guys were detained for intimidating a South Korean woman in Mumbai while she was live-streaming. One of the accused was seen dragging the YouTuber by her hand while shouting “no, no” in Khar yesterday night in a video that was posted online.

In spite of her objections, the man is shown on camera approaching her and holding her hand.
He reappears with another man riding a bike as she leaves and offers to give her a ride. The woman denies it and explains that her residence is close by in bad English.

Retweeting the video, the woman said that she tried to keep things calm because the accused was with someone else.

“Last night on stream, there was a guy who harassed me. I tried my best not to escalate the situation and leave because he was with his friend. And some people said that it was initiated by me being too friendly and engaging the conversation. Makes me think again about streaming,” she said.

Based on the video, the police have opened a case of sexual assault on their own. Mobeen Chand Mohd Shaikh, 19, and Mohd Naqib Sadarialam Ansari, 20, were named as the defendants.

“Mumbai Police’s Khar Police station has taken a Suo Moto action in an incident that happened with a Korean woman (foreigner) in the jurisdiction of Khar West. In this regard, both the accused have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC,” Mumbai Police said in a tweet.
