‘Sitting at Home, Licking Modi’s Feet’; Sidhu attacks Amarinder Singh
Punjab Congress state president Navjot Singh Sidhu has attacked Captain Amarinder Singh, who has announced an alliance with the BJP. Sidhu has alleged that former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was licking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s feet at his home as he prepared for the Punjab Assembly elections. Sidhu described Amarinder Singh as an arrogant king.
The captain said the doors were once closed for Sidhu. But now he is at home licking the Prime Minister’s feet. Sidhu had sharply criticized Amarinder, a former Congress leader, at a public meeting on election-related issues. Amarinder Singh finally left the Congress and formed his own party on November 2, after a long feud with Navjot Singh Sidhu. He then formed an alliance with the BJP. According to reports, the BJP, which is allied with Amarinder Singh’s party, the Punjab Lok Congress, will contest 70-80 seats in Punjab. Elections will be held next year.
Amarinder Singh announced the alliance after meeting Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who is also the BJP’s Punjab chief minister, in New Delhi. Amarinder Singh had said at the time that we would fight the elections together and victory was assured.
