Sidhu Moose Wala, a singer, was shot and killed
On Sunday, Congress leader and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot and killed in Mansa district. The shooting also resulted in the injuries of two other people. The incident occurred a day after Punjab withdrew 424 people’s security, including Moose Wala.
As part of the Bhagwant Mann government’s effort to combat VIP culture, the security cover was revoked. Moose Wala and two of his friends were driving in a jeep to the village of Jawahar Ke in Punjab when they were attacked.
Moose Wala was found slumped on his seat, bleeding profusely, after his SUV was sprayed with bullets. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors. According to Punjab police, the attack appeared to be the result of a gang war. A gangster from Canada has also claimed responsibility for the attack, according to police.
“This murder is linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Fortunately, a gang member from Canada has taken responsibility “VK Bhawra, the Punjab DGP, told the media. He claimed that the manager of Moose Wala, Shaganpreet, was involved in the murder of Vicky Middukhera last year. According to the top police officer, this murder appeared to be retaliation for the murder of Middukhera. A special investigation team has also been formed by Punjab Police to look into the incident.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu was better known as Sidhu Moose Wala on stage. The 28-year-old was from the Moose Wala village near Mansa and had a string of hit songs in recent years.
Several people had chastised the singer for using his songs to promote gun culture. He’d also been charged with promoting violence through his song “Sanju.” After photos of him firing an AK-47 rifle at a firing range during the COVID-19 lockdown surfaced on social media, he was arrested in Barnala under the Arms Act and the Disaster Management Act.
In December of last year, the singer became a member of Congress. Sidhu Moose Wala ran for Mansa in the Punjab Assembly elections of 2022 on a Congress ticket. Dr Vijay Singla of the Aam Aadmi Party defeated him. Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, expressed his shock and sadness at the news. “The assassination of Sidhu Moosewala, a promising Congress leader and talented artist, has left me shocked and saddened. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and fans all over the world “Mr. Gandhi sent out a tweet.
On Sunday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said those responsible for the attack on singer Sidhu Moose Wala would not be spared. The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party also urged everyone to remain calm.
