Sherlyn Chopra files complaint against Sajid Khan over sexual misconduct, says ‘No one is above law’

Sherlyn Chopra, a Bollywood actor and model who reported #MeToo accuser Sajid Khan to the police, has stated that she wants the director to be imprisoned because “no one is above the law.”

In 2018, Sajid became embroiled in the #MeToo scandal after nine women in the entertainment industry accused the director of sexual harassment while they were working with him on various projects. Along with Sherlyn, other actresses who have accused him include Saloni Chopra, Aahana Kumra, and Mandana Karimi.

Sherlyn Chopra talked to ANI about the entire situation and why it took her years to come out. Sherlyn Chopra has already filed a police complaint against the director at the Juhu police station in Mumbai.

“I have recently filed a complaint against #MeToo accused Sajid Khan in Juhu Police Station for sexual exploitation, criminal force and criminal intimidation. The first thing that the police asked me was when did this incident happen, to which I replied that it happened in 2005. Further, when they asked me why it took me so long to reach out to them, I said that back then I did not have the courage to file a sexual exploitation complaint against a big name like Sajid Khan,” she said.

The actor then shared that during the #MeToo movement when other women “came out fearlessly in the open to share their experiences in front of the media,” she also got the courage to speak out.

Finally, Sherlyn Chopra stated that she wanted Sajid Khan to be imprisoned, much like Harvey Weinstein, who was found guilty of a first-degree criminal sexual conduct and third-degree rape in February 2020. He received a 23-year prison term in a decision that was applauded by the #MeToo movement.

Meanwhile, Sajid Khan is presently a contestant on the Salman Khan-hosted reality TV series Bigg Boss 16, having resigned from his directing duties for the film Houseful 4 as a result of the allegations. Sajid’s participation in the show has drawn criticism from a number of people, including singer Sona Mohapatra and actor Ali Fazal, among others, who have urged that he be fired.
