Saudi Arabia has imposed travel restrictions to India, 15 Other Countries over Covid outbreaks

Saudi Arabia has banned its citizens from travelling to sixteen countries, including India, following the re-emergence of Covid-19 and the rapid increase in the number of daily Covid infections over the past few weeks.

Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Libya, Indonesia, Vietnam, Armenia, Belarus, and Venezuela are among the sixteen countries where Saudi Arabian citizens are prohibited from travelling, according to Gulf News. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has assured the public that no cases of monkeypox have been detected in the country. According to Abdullah Asiri, the Kingdom’s Deputy Minister of Health for Preventive Health, the Kingdom has the ability to monitor and detect any suspected monkeypox cases, as well as fight the infection if a new case emerges.

“Until now, there have been very few cases of human-to-human transmission, so the risk of outbreaks, even in countries where cases have been detected, is very low,” he added.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed 80 cases of monkeypox in 11 countries and is working to better understand the outbreak’s scope and cause.

The WHO said in a statement on Friday that the virus is endemic in some animal populations in a number of countries, causing outbreaks among locals and visitors on occasion.
