SatSure Secures ₹246 Million Grant to Build India-Focused AI Earth Observation Models

Indian space technology startup SatSure Analytics has secured a grant of ₹246 million (approximately $2.57 million) from India’s space regulator to develop advanced artificial intelligence models for Earth observation. The funding is part of India’s broader initiative to strengthen sovereign AI capabilities and reduce dependence on foreign technologies in critical sectors such as climate monitoring, disaster management, and national security.

Based in Bengaluru, SatSure plans to use the grant to create large-scale Earth observation models powered by satellite and drone data specifically tailored to India’s unique geographic and environmental conditions. The company stated that global AI models often struggle to accurately interpret local factors such as monsoon patterns, agricultural landscapes, and rapid urban expansion, making India-specific solutions increasingly important.

The funding will also support SatSure’s participation in India’s commercial satellite constellation development programme. According to co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Rashmit Singh Sukhmani, Earth observation is evolving into a reusable intelligence infrastructure capable of supporting decision-making across sectors including infrastructure, finance, agriculture, and climate resilience, while reflecting India’s diverse geography and development needs.
