Sabarimala All Set To Receive Pilgrims As Season Begins On Thursday

A day before the two-month long pilgrimage season begins, on Wednesday, the Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala will be inaugurated.
Beginning on November 17, each year, the Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season.

N Parameswaran Namboothiri, the outgoing head priest, will inaugurate the temple’s sanctum sanctorum on November 16 at 5 PM in the presence of chief priest (Tantri) Kandararu Rajeevaru.

Once the next year’s worth of poojas has passed, newly chosen head priests of the Lord Ayyappa and Malikappuram temples will take charge. On December 27, the 41-day Mandala puja celebration will come to an end.

In preparation for the Makaravilakku pilgrimage on January 14, 2023, the temple will reopen on December 30. On January 20, the shrine will be shut down, ending the season of pilgrimage.

Thousands of devotees are anticipated to participate this year, according to officials, as it is the first pilgrim season since the COVID-19 limitations that were in effect for the previous two years were lifted.

They said that thorough security plans were in place to ensure the festival’s seamless operation.
