Ashneer Grover Slams WhatsApp Pay, Calls It “Biggest Failure In India”

According to Ashneer Grover, a former managing director of BharatPe, WhatsApp Pay is India’s “worst disaster.” Mr. Grover criticised the tech product’s failure to break into the sizable UPI market in the nation, contending that it ought to have defeated all rivals given that it was already a part of practically every smartphone there.

“WhatsApp Pay has to be the biggest failure in India as a tech product. Everyone has @WhatsApp on their phone – sending money on WA using UPI is as easy as sending a pic. It should have beaten @Paytm @PhonePe @GooglePay . Country managers can’t win you markets – good riddance now !” he said on Twitter.

The former judge of the business reality television programme “Shark Tank” India further criticised the company and shared a screenshot of its advertisement in the tweet’s comment section. He claimed that instead of promoting its safety features, WhatsApp should have put more money into improving its payment services. He asserted that this is inevitable if vakil babu, a lawyer, and his public policy uncle are in charge of WhatsApp’s Dhanda (Business).

In the past, Mr. Grover has held executive positions with unicorns including Bharat Pe and Grofers. The co-founder of BharatPe was one of the most well-liked sharks on Shark Tank India, but he won’t be appearing in the upcoming season. Ashneer Grover, the previous creator of BharatPe, has been replaced as CEO and co-founder of CarDekho by Amit Jain. Ashneer Grover, the co-founder of BharatPe, was one of the sharks, but he was not included in this episode, disappointing many fans.
