According to the foreign ministry, an Indian student was killed in shelling in Ukraine this morning.

“We regret to inform you that an Indian student was killed in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry has made contact with his family. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family “The Ministry of External Affairs tweeted about it.
Videos from Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, showed extensive damage caused by the Russian military assault. In one video, the city’s largest government building was blown up.

This morning, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine urged all citizens, including students, to leave Kyiv immediately today, by trains or any other means available.

A long convoy of Russian military vehicles was seen on satellite images on roads northwest of Kyiv. Hundreds of tanks, towed artillery, armoured, and logistical vehicles can be seen in images released by a space technology company based in the United States.

Approximately 16,000 Indian students remain stranded in Ukraine. Many students have taken to social media to share photos and videos from underground bunkers, metro stations, and bomb shelters where they have been hiding since the Russian attack began last Thursday. Approximately 8,000 Indian nationals have departed on various special flights. Students have also been walking to the borders in sub-zero temperatures in the hopes of crossing and catching a flight home.
