Regarding Aditya Karikalan’s appearance in Ponniyin Selvan, Mani Ratnam and Vikram received legal notices

The character appearance of Aditya Karikalan, who is portrayed by Tamil superstar Vikram, has put the upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan: 1 in legal hot water. Mani Ratnam is being sued by a lawyer who claims that he misrepresented historical information regarding the Cholas.

According to sources, the lawyer stated in the notice that the Cholas did not practise wearing a “tilak” on the forehead, as depicted in Ponniyin Selvan’s posters: 1. Vikram was depicted wearing a “tilak” in the character posters for Aditya Karikalan, which were unveiled last week.

According to Thanthi TV, the lawyer who filed the notice praised Mani Ratnam for producing a film about the Chola empire. He also said that there will be be severe repercussions if Ratnam hid “facts regarding the Cholas” in the film. Additionally, he has called for a preview of the film before it opens in theatres.

Mani Ratnam’s most ambitious film to date is Ponniyin Selvan. Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel of the same name, the movie is set against the backdrop of the Chola empire. Arulmozhi Varman, who later rose to power as Rajaraja Chola I, is the subject of the five-volume novel Ponniyin Selvan.

In order to portray the great figures who have a particular place in Tamil literature and popular culture, Ratnam has assembled an all-star cast. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R Parthiban all appear in the movie in addition to Vikram.
