Ranbir and Deepika to attend Big B’s Diwali bash
Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are going to be among the guests at the Diwali party hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan. They would spend their day at home on the eve and later be a part of other celebrities in the evening at Bachchan’s house.
Ranbir, who was in the capital yesterday to celebrate the festival of lights with the media, said in an interview, “We would celebrate Diwali with our family in the day, do the Lakshmi puja and then at night, we are all heading to Mr Bachchan’s party”.
Meanwhile, Deepika said that she desires to travel to Benguluru to spend some time with her parents and then fly back to Mumbai.”I am looking whether I can go to Benguluru for half a day to spend few hours with my family. Otherwise, perhaps I will do a small puja at home and then head to the party in the evening,” the 29-year-old actress said.
Dressed in a red-and-white Payal Jain saree, Deepika struck a stunning picture, where as her “Tamasha” co-star Ranbir Kapoor looked dapper in a red Rohit Bal kurta-pyjama combined with a half jacket. When asked if her celebrations are different from North Indian, the Bangalore girl said, “I don’t know how it’s done in North or any part of the country but the day is different like it is a day before for us than what it’s for others”.
“We oil our hair a day before, have head bath in the morning, help mum with lighting diyas, keeping lights ready for the evening and dispatching the gifts. I do not know if rituals are different and I don’t think that matters, only emotions and feelings matter,” she said. Sharing about his father Rishi Kapoor’s insistence on burning two sparklers since Ranbir was a child, the actor said, “For me Diwali has been the same since I was born. We go to RK studios, do the Lakshmi puja there and distribute gifts to our staff.
“We visit our grandmother’s house; take her blessings, entire family comes along, exchange gifts. We then come back home, do our puja. My father insists to burn at least two sparklers that’s a tradition he believes in, he said. Ranbir further said that “We tell him that we are done with the crackers and we don’t do that anymore but he insists.
Then we go out to our friends’ parties. We have been going to Amitji’s Diwali bash for past two years, so I will be continuing that tradition this time.” The actors’ lit diyas, tried their hand in making rangoli and played cards before interacting with the media. The much-loved on-screen couple looked relaxed, comfortable and in festive mood as they joked around with the reporters. Director Imtiaz Ali’s “Tamasha” releases on November 27.
