Protesters Burn Effigies Of SRK In Indore. Their Demand: Ban ‘Pathaan’
In the Madhya Pradesh city of Indore on Wednesday, activists from a group protested the upcoming Bollywood film “Pathaan” and its song “Besharam Rang.”At a traffic light, “Veer Shivaji Group” activists assembled and burned Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan effigies on fire. They urged a ban on the movie, which was scheduled to be released in January of next year, claiming that the song “Besharam Rang” had offended the Hindu community.
Narottam Mishra, the home minister for Madhya Pradesh, had earlier in the day expressed displeasure with Padukone’s wardrobe in the “Pathaan” song as well as the colour of Padukone and lead actor Shah Rukh Khan’s clothing, and called for its “rectification.”
According to Mr. Mishra, the government would think about what to do about the movie’s screening in Madhya Pradesh if certain sequences in the song are not “fixed.”
Prior to focusing on the movie and the song, the home minister conducted puja at the birthplace of Lord Parshuram in Janapav Kuti, close to Mhow.
