Presidential election dates declared : Nomination process to start from June 14th

With the present president Pranab Mukherjee’s presidential term coming to an end next month, Nazim Zaidi – Chief election commissioner has announced that the presidential elections would take place on July 17, but counting the votes would only take place on July 20t.

The nomination process would start from June 14 and the last day for filing nomination would be 28 June. July 1st would be the last date for the withdrawal of the candidate. Also by july 1, the number of serious candidates in the list would be clear if there is no consensus between the NDA and the oppositions.

The oppositions has decided to set up a sub-group to build consensus on a joint candidate and I likely to meet within a week.
