Pollard Named Mumbai Indians Head Coach
Mumbai Indians have appointed former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard as their head coach for the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, replacing Mahela Jayawardene, the franchise announced on Saturday. Pollard previously served as the team’s batting coach before Jayawardene’s departure last week.
Pollard played a key role in West Indies’ 2012 ICC T20 World Cup triumph and won five IPL titles with Mumbai Indians between 2013 and 2020. The 39-year-old brings extensive experience with the franchise, having contributed to its success as both a player and a coach.
Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful teams in IPL history with five titles, have struggled in recent seasons, missing the playoffs in four of the past six campaigns. Pollard said he looks forward to working with the players and support staff, developing talent and building on the team’s legacy.
