PM Modi to Inaugurate Flats for JJ Cluster Residents and Major Development Projects in Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 1,675 newly built flats for Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) cluster residents under the Swabhiman Apartments project in Ashok Vihar, Delhi, on January 3, 2024. Part of the Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project, these flats aim to provide affordable housing with essential amenities. Beneficiaries will pay a nominal contribution of ₹1.42 lakh against the ₹25 lakh construction cost and ₹30,000 for five years of maintenance. Modi will personally hand over the keys, marking the DDA’s second successful implementation of such a project.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate two major redevelopment projects in the city. The World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar will replace over 600 old quarters with 34 lakh square feet of modern commercial space, featuring eco-friendly measures like solar energy generation and rainwater harvesting. Additionally, 28 towers housing over 2,500 units at the GPRA Type-II Quarters in Sarojini Nagar will be opened, with facilities including solar power and waste management systems.
Other projects to be inaugurated include the new Integrated Office Complex of the CBSE in Dwarka, constructed at ₹300 crore with eco-friendly IGBC Platinum standards. Modi will also lay the foundation stones for three Delhi University projects worth ₹600 crore, including academic blocks in Surajmal Vihar and Dwarka, and the construction of Veer Savarkar College in Najafgarh, further enhancing educational infrastructure in the capital.
