Ola Electric Founder Bhavish Aggarwal Named in Police Complaint After Employee’s Suicide

Ola Electric founder Bhavish Aggarwal and senior executive Subrath Kumar Das have been named in a police complaint following the death of employee K. Aravind, who reportedly accused them of harassment in a 28-page note before dying by suicide. The complaint, filed by Aravind’s brother in Bengaluru, alleges that the employee was under extreme work pressure.

According to the police report seen by Reuters, the company deposited ₹1.7 million into Aravind’s account a day after his cremation on September 29. His brother, Ashwin Kannan, questioned the timing of the payment, stating that Ola Electric had withheld dues for months. The company said the payment was part of Aravind’s full and final settlement and that he had never filed any grievance or harassment complaint during his tenure.

Ola Electric, which has challenged the FIR in the state’s top court, maintained that all salary dues were cleared as per regular payroll processes. The incident comes as the SoftBank- and Temasek-backed electric scooter maker faces slowing sales, regulatory scrutiny, and mounting competition. Ola Electric’s stock has declined about 30% since its market debut in August 2024.
