Nitish Kumar Disburses ₹2,500 Crore to 2.5 Million Women Under Rozgar Yojana
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday disbursed ₹10,000 each to 2.5 million women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, transferring a total of ₹2,500 crore directly to beneficiaries’ accounts. With this, the total financial aid distributed under the scheme has reached ₹10,000 crore, benefiting 10 million women in the poll-bound state.
The scheme, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 26, provides an initial grant of ₹10,000 to women to help them begin self-employment. Beneficiaries can avail additional assistance of up to ₹2 lakh based on performance evaluation after they start their vocations. Kumar highlighted that ₹7,500 crore had earlier been disbursed to 7.5 million women on the launch day itself.
Emphasizing women’s empowerment, Kumar said the scheme aims to support one woman from every family in Bihar to take up a livelihood of her choice. “The initiative will not only strengthen women’s self-reliance but also boost the economic growth of the state and the country,” he said. Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were also present at the event in Patna, where the Chief Minister interacted with beneficiaries, including Anju Kumari, who expressed her happiness over the financial aid.
