Nestle Dairy Whitener Sample Declared Unsafe in India
A sample of Nestle’s low-fat dairy whitener collected from The Lalit hotel in New Delhi has been declared “unsafe” and “substandard” by India’s food safety regulator. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) said laboratory testing found the sample non-compliant and directed the hotel to immediately stop selling the product.
The regulator did not release the full laboratory report publicly. The Lalit hotel and Nestle had not immediately responded to Reuters’ requests for comment regarding the findings.
The development follows a similar action in September, when the food regulator said a Nestle baby food sample was substandard and announced legal proceedings against the company. Nestle has previously said its products are fully compliant with applicable regulations.
