The Government of India has launched a high-level inquiry into widespread cancellations and delays affecting IndiGo flights across the country. The probe will investigate operational lapses, crew scheduling issues, and Flight Duty Time Limit (FDTL) compliance, ensuring accountability and preventive measures. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said the government is closely monitoring the disruptions to restore normalcy and protect passenger interests.
As flight delays triggered nationwide inconvenience, the ministry issued directives for airlines to stabilize schedules and swiftly address passenger grievances. A 24/7 control room has been set up to track real-time updates and coordinate corrective actions. The minister also stated that strict action will be taken against those found responsible for operational failures, emphasizing that the issue “shouldn’t be left unattended.”
Responding to the chaos, IndiGo issued a public apology and assured passengers that refunds will be automatically processed, along with a full waiver on cancellations or rescheduling between December 5 and 15. Airports in Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Indore, and Thiruvananthapuram reported significant cancellations, with Mumbai alone seeing over 100 affected flights. The situation continues to disrupt travel plans as authorities push to restore order in India’s busiest airline network.
