Microsoft Targets $50 Billion AI Investment Across Global South

Microsoft said it is on track to invest $50 billion by the end of the decade to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure and capabilities across countries in the Global South. The announcement was made during the AI Impact Summit held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, where global technology leaders and policymakers gathered to discuss the future of AI adoption.

The Global South typically refers to developing, emerging, and lower-income nations, many located in the southern hemisphere. Microsoft’s investment plan aims to strengthen digital ecosystems, boost AI innovation, and improve access to advanced technologies in these fast-growing markets.

Last year, the U.S. tech giant unveiled $17.5 billion in AI investments in India, reinforcing its commitment to one of the world’s fastest-expanding digital economies. The fresh pledge signals Microsoft’s broader strategy to deepen its footprint in emerging markets while accelerating global AI adoption.
