UNIQUE TIMES – Massive Blasts rock Tianjin port city in China
The Chinese state media has reported that the blasts happened in a dangerous chemical goods warehouse in city. More than seventeen people are dead and many hundreds are injured. The city is a state of emergency as buildings collapsed and flames burning high into the sky. All initial reports suggest that the accident was an industrial one. The first explosion happened at 11.30 local time and was followed by a 7 times stronger explosion. The first explosion was equivalent to an explosion of 3 tonnes of TNT while the second one was massive one which was equivalent to 21 Tonne TNT explosions. The shockwave was felt several kilometres away. Hospitals are overwhelmed with causalities. Chinese President Xi Jinping has offered all help to the victims and efforts to contain fire. Tianjin is a major port city on the south east side of Beijing; the city is home to more than 15 million people.
