Manik Sarkar is the poorest CM: Report

When many politicians use the political power and public offices to amass wealth, some pay less care about wealth and more about their duty as a servant of public.

There is no wrong to select a wealthy man as a public representative. If a public representative amasses a large chunk of wealth more than what a normal person can earn while sitting in that post, it is a matter of suspicion. In a normal sense, those who elected the politician deserve explanation and justifications in such cases.

The reality is that the Indian society is less bothered about these things. Whenever a media house publicises such stories, the people’s interest in such things grows for a brief time. Definitely, that interest does not stay long. It normally goes back to the primitive stage, once the media house leave the issue, which has triggered the interest, for another issue, which can help them gain more rating.

Don’t we need an indestructible system to monitor the financial dealings of the elected representatives and those closely associated with him?

This time, it is Manik Sarkar that has prompted the society to think about the public representative’s wealth. Unlike the politicians who previously triggered similar thought about the representative’s wealth, this politician has moved the minds of those people, who have accessed his asset details which the Tripura CM filed while giving his nomination for running for the fifth consecutive term as the Supremo.

When the richest CM, Andhra Pradesh’s Chandrababu Naidu has total assets worth over one hundred and seventy seven crore Indian rupees, the Tripura leader’s total assets worth is less than twenty-six lakh Indian rupees.
