Manasa Varanasi of India makes the top 13 at Miss World 2021

Karoline Bielawska of Poland was crowned Miss World 2021 in a pageant held in Puerto Rico, where India’s Manasa Varanasi placed eleventh among the top 13 contestants. Toni-Ann Singh, the outgoing queen of Miss World 2019, crowned Karolina Bielawska the winner.

Shree Saini, an Indian-American from the United States, came in second place in the beauty contest held at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan. Olivia Yace of Cote d’Ivoire came in second as the second runner-up. Manasa Varanasi’s top 13 finish comes almost three months after India’s Harnaaz Sandhu was crowned Miss Universe 2021, 21 years after India won the title.

Manasa Varanasi was born in Hyderabad but moved to Malaysia at a young age because of her father’s job. She attended Global Indian International School and completed grade 10 there. She later returned to India to study computer science at Hyderabad’s Vasavi College of Engineering. She has been crowned Femina Miss India in 2020, representing the state of Telangana. In addition, she was named Femina Miss India World 2020.

This year’s contest was the 70th edition of the beauty pageant, which took place over the course of 40 days in December. The pageant drew over 90 contestants from around the world, but the finale was postponed due to an outbreak of Covid among the staff and even the finalists. In December, Manasi Varanasi was one of the contestants who tested positive for Covid.

Miss World 1986 Giselle Laronde, CEO of the Miss World Organization Julia Morley, and British novelist, columnist, and author Patrick Robinson were among the jury members for this year’s Miss World.
