Maharashtra Government To Deploy Surveillance Drones In Prisons
An official stated on Tuesday that the Maharashtra government would soon use drones for surveillance reasons in the state’s largest prisons.
According to him, the government will be purchasing four X-Ray luggage screening devices and 12 Micro Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones fitted with cameras) as part of its initiative to modernise prisons. The home department approved money on Monday to buy the prisons department’s latest security-related equipment.
The official claimed that drones equipped with cameras will make it possible to monitor prison inmates’ activities while also improving their safety.
