Karnataka Congress meets fresh crisis

The Congress Party in Karnataka has met a fresh crisis, as around two senior leaders have resigned from the party Today.

One of them has cited the recent JD(S)-Congress government’s decision to sell around 3,667.31 acres to a steel conglomerate as the prime reason for his resignation.

The resigned leaders were earlier identified with the rebel camp. In the past, several times they levelled the resignation threat against the Congress.

There were rumours lately that at least a dozen Congress leaders would resign along with the rebel leaders.

It is the timely interference of the Congress party that has prevented the party from facing a bigger embarrassment than what it has faced through the latest resignation.

The JD(S) top leadership has criticised the opposition for the resignation of the Congress leaders. The Congress leadership has also responded in the similar manner.

Meanwhile, the BJP leadership has denied any involvement in the resignation of the Congress leaders. But, some senior saffron leaders in the party has replayed positively to the question that whether the BJP will utilise the opportunity if the Congress-JD(S) government fall.

The BJP is the single largest political party in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. But, it falls short of a few numbers to reach the majority line. It is the post-election union of the Congress and the JD(S) that gives the alliance adequate number to remain in the seat of power of the state.
