JSW Cement Posts More Than Tenfold Jump In Quarterly Profit On Strong Demand
JSW Cement reported a more than tenfold rise in its consolidated net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, climbing to ₹3.71 billion compared with ₹342.2 million in the same period last year. The sharp increase was supported by stronger cement demand and the typical seasonal uptick in volumes during the fourth quarter.
Revenue from operations grew 10.9% to ₹18.95 billion, reflecting improved sales performance. However, higher input costs weighed on margins, with raw material expenses rising 16% and freight costs increasing 10.7% due to supply disruptions linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Total expenses rose 2.4% to ₹17.02 billion.
The company also benefited from favourable policy support, including a reduction in cement bag tax from 28% to 18% effective September. It reappointed Nilesh Narwekar as CEO and approved a 2.5 million tonnes per annum cement grinding capacity expansion in Rajasthan. Sector peers UltraTech Cement and Ambuja Cements also posted strong quarterly results amid robust industry demand.
