JioFiber Ordered to Pay ₹10,000 Over Poor Service
A District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Himachal Pradesh has held Reliance JioFiber guilty of deficiency in service and unfair trade practice after repeated internet outages affected a customer’s broadband connection. The Commission directed the company to restore the customer’s internet service free of cost and pay ₹10,000 as compensation for mental agony and litigation expenses.
The complainant, Pratima Chauhan, had subscribed to a six-month JioFiber broadband plan in March 2025 by paying ₹2,824.92. However, the internet reportedly stopped working the following month, disrupting her academic work and daily activities. Despite raising multiple complaints, she alleged that the connectivity issues remained unresolved, prompting her to approach the Consumer Commission.
JioFiber claimed the issue had been resolved and that technicians had attempted to contact the customer. However, the Commission found that the company failed to provide sufficient technical evidence or supporting records to prove its claims. As a result, it ordered JioFiber to restore the broadband connection at no additional cost and comply with the order within 45 days.
