JD(S) fails to reach a deal with Congress over ‘Ministerial Portfolio Distribution’

The important process of ‘Ministerial Portfolio Distribution’ in the South Indian state of Karnataka has remained inconclusive, as the JD(S), which formed a government in the state with the help of the Congress, has failed to reach a deal with the grand old party, which gifted the chief ministerial position to JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy.
As per a report, the last weekend was an eventful weekend for both Congress and JD(S). The political leaders of these parties engaged in several rounds of talks in last Sunday and Saturday.
The attractive portfolio of Finance Minister is the one which creates serious difficulties for the process of ‘Ministerial Portfolio Distribution’ among the coalition partners.
During the election campaigns, both Congress and JD(S) promised the introduction of several welfare schemes, such as loan waivers, for farmers and other marginalised.
The political parties often use the finance ministry portfolio to lunch populist schemes and policies in order to establish their government’s image in the minds of their people as populist.
The previous Congress government, which ruled the Karnataka State, through their ‘baghya’ schemes successfully created such an image in the hearts of the people.
The aforementioned fact is the actual reason why the congress stayed afloat even though it was battered by numerous huge Saffron waves during the election.
