India’s Kanpur most polluted city in the world: WHO
Pollution is a serious issue in India. Though our country’s policy makers put sincere efforts to curb the rising pollution rate, nothing much happens in the ground.
Exposing how serious is the issue of pollution, the World Health Organisation has released a list of one thousand highly polluted cities in the world.
These cities are several times much more polluted than the most lenient guideline value given by the WHO.
The unfortunate fact is that there are at least fourteen Indian cities in the list of top twenty most polluted cities in the world.
These cities are Kanpur, Faridabad, Varanasi, Gaya, Patna, Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Muzaffarpur, Srinagar, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Patiala and Jodhpur.
Apart from these Indian cities, the cities from Cameroon, Uganda, Bangladesh and Qatar are the other important cities appeared in the list.
It is to be noted that almost all of the Indian cities which appear in the list of top twenty most polluted countries are situated in the northern part of India.
The report released by the WHO indirectly asks our policies makers to formulate more effective policies to contain the issue of raising pollution rate in the country.
What will be that small change which could give a radical difference in the raising pollution rate of our country?
