Indian Founder Rahul Agarwal Secures ₹3.3 Crore Deal on Shark Tank US
Kolkata-born designer Rahul Agarwal has secured a $350,000 (approximately ₹3.3 crore) investment for his kitchenware brand, Polygons, on Shark Tank US. Investors Lori Greiner and guest Shark Mindy Kaling jointly backed his origami-inspired foldable measuring spoons during Season 18, Episode 4. Agarwal initially offered 7% equity, but the final deal included an 8% ownership stake and an additional 2% in advisory shares.
Polygons offers a space-saving alternative to traditional measuring spoons, using two foldable tools that adjust to different measurements and flatten for convenient storage. Founded in October 2016, the company has recorded lifetime sales of $4 million (approximately ₹37.92 crore), including $1.25 million in the previous year. Agarwal impressed the investors with the product’s design, presentation and negotiation skills.
Despite its sales growth, Agarwal said he pays himself a monthly salary of around $500, prioritising business expansion. The investment is expected to support Polygons’ manufacturing, distribution and marketing in the US. The deal highlights how a simple everyday kitchen product can attract investor interest through innovative design and a practical solution to a common household problem.
