Indian awarded Star of Jerusalem medal by Palestine

The Palestine government has awarded the Star of Jerusalem medal –the highest medal the government can give to a foreign national – to an Indian national, Sheikh Mohammad Munir Ansari, in recognition of the valuable contributions he has made to the Palestine society.

Mr Ansari is the director of a historic monument situated in the city of Jerusalem – Indian Hospice.

He is a Jerusalem-born Indian. He has been living there in the holy country since his birth. Yet, he has maintained a cordial relation with the country of his origin.

In the year 2011, the Indian government honoured the man with the prestigious Pravasi Divas Samman award.

The Indian Hospice is a famous pilgrim centre in the holy city. No Indian who visit this city will miss the opportunity to visit this holy place.

During the ceremony organised to award the Indian, the Palestinian government has expressed its interest to increase its engagements with India.
