India to celebrate Pravasi Bhartiya Divas

In a bid to make the Indian diaspora a part of our growth, the central government is set to celebrate the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. The three-day conference, which will take place at Bengaluru this weekend, will highlight the economic reforms like GST promoted by the BJP-led central government. Along with the delegates, several political executives and permanent executives will participate in the program. The event, which aims to redefine our country’s engagement with the Indian diaspora, will be formally inaugurated by the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The discussions regarding all the major fields like innovation, tourism, education and start-up in which the Indian government expects the contribution of our diaspora will happen in the event, which is likely to witness a huge participation of the NRI members. India has a huge NRI population of over three crores Non-Residential Indians; they can make a huge impact on the country’s economy. As per the report, Portugal Prime Minister Antonio Costa will be the chief guest of the function, while Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will attend the Valedictory Ceremony, which will be convened to confer the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman to deserving personalities. The prestigious event was initially launched by former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the year 2003 in order to encourage and engage with the Indian diaspora. This year’s event is very crucial as the government is trying to make a radical change in the tax system through the controversial GST bill.
