India Brewers Face Supply Crunch
Beer makers in India are warning of potential shortages and price hikes as the Iran conflict disrupts gas supplies critical for production. The crisis has driven up costs for glass bottles and aluminium cans, key materials used in packaging.
The Brewers Association of India said prices of glass bottles have surged by around 20%, while other packaging materials like cartons and labels have also become significantly more expensive. Gas shortages have forced some manufacturers to cut or halt production, tightening supply ahead of peak summer demand.
Major global brewers, including Heineken, Anheuser-Busch InBev, and Carlsberg, may push for price increases, though regulatory approvals are required in many states. The situation is worsening across related industries, raising concerns about broader supply disruptions.
