In Mani Ratnam’s epic Ponniyin Selvan, Aishwarya Rai is the face of vengeance
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s new character poster was released by the film’s creators. In the Mani Ratnam-directed film, she is portrayed by Nandini. “Vengeance has a beautiful face! Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor!,” tweeted Madras Talkies, the banner which is bankrolling the two-part epic along with Lyca Productions.
Aishwarya portrays a really kind queen in the poster. But appearances can be deceptive. The movie, which is set against the backdrop of the Chola dynasty, is supposed to include Nandini as its primary antagonist.
The epic historical novel by renowned author Kalki Krishnamurthy served as the inspiration for the film. Arulmozhi Varman, who later rose to power as Rajaraja Chola I, is the subject of the five-volume novel Ponniyin Selvan.
In terms of scale, scope, and money, Ponniyin Selvan is Mani Ratnam’s most ambitious film to date. It is a fictitious portrayal of the Chola kingdom and is his first costume drama. Aishwarya, Vikram, Karthi, Jayaram Ravi, Trisha, Asihwariya Lekshmi, Sobhita, Sarath Kumar, Parthiban, and Lal are just a few of the many well-known actors who appear in it.
This is Aishwarya and Mani Ratnam’s fourth joint project, Ponniyin Selvan. She made her acting debut in the cult movie Iruvar by Ratnam (1997). Additionally, she portrayed the female lead in Guru and Raavanan by Ratnam.
On September 30, Ponniyin Selvan: Part One will be released in theatres.
