‘Hanuman Bhakt’ Twitter account that led to journalist Zubair’s arrest deactivated

The Twitter account that led to the arrest of Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair has come to the attention of the Delhi Police. According to the FIR in the case, the account was in the username of Hanuman Bhakt with the username @balajikijaiin.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Zubair (founder of Alt news) approached the Delhi High Court. Mohammad Zubair has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging the Patiala House court’s order for his release from police custody. The petition will be considered by the high court tomorrow.

Journalist Muhammad Zubair was arrested for tweeting a scene from the 1983 Hindi film Kizi Se Na Kaha. Sections like hurting religious sentiments and inciting hatred have been charged against Zubair. The action was taken on the basis of the Twitter ID Hanuman Bhakt, which has no personal information, and tagged the Delhi Police.

Two thousand and eighteen tweets have been tagged on this Twitter handle since 2021. It was also revealed that the Delhi Police had registered a case against itself. The FIR states that the complainant is Sub-Inspector Arun Kumar. Pratik Sinha, co – founder of Alt News, said the arrest was made in 2020 after being summoned for questioning in a case that had received court protection.

The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations Unit, which arrested Disha Ravi in ​​the tool kit case, also took action against Zubair. In the night itself, he was produced at the residence of the magistrate in Buradi and taken into custody by the police.

At the same time, a senior police official told The Hindu that the activities of the Twitter account (balajikijaiin) who lodged the complaint were not being investigated. At the same time, some police sources told PTI that the account could be deleted as it gets more attention. The Delhi Police took Zubair to his residence and took evidence.
