First leg of crucial budget session begins today in parliament

The first leg of the crucial budget session has begun today in the Indian parliament, with the speech of the president Ram Nath Kovind.

It is the first time that the new president has made a speech in the function organised to kick start the commencement of the parliament budget session.

As per the report, the first leg of the budget session will occur between January 29 and February 9.

Later today, the Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, will present the Economic Survey report separately in both the houses of the parliament. On February 1, the union budget will be presented before the parliament.   

It has been reported that the crucial second budget session would occur between March 5 and April 6.

The focus of the first leg of the budget session will be the Union Budget, while that of the second budget session will be the functioning of various ministries.

Last day, the senior ministers of the Indian government, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister, convened a meeting in the Indian parliament house with the senior representatives of the opposition parties to seek the support of the opposition in the smooth functioning of the budget session.
