Fire service week observed in Cochin airport
Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFF), the fire and rescue arm of Cochin International Airport Limited( CIAL), observed the National Fire Service Week 2014 with the theme ‘Fire Prevention is the best insurance’.
Every Year 14th to 20th April is observed as Fire Service Week in India with which CIAL ARFF has joined by spearheading awareness through quiz, training sessions, seminar, fire fighting competitions and demonstration of fire fighting and rescue operations.
A seminar was conducted on 21st April 2014 which was inaugurated by the Airport Director Mr. ACK Nair. In the seminar Mr Naizu AV, (Manager, Fire & Safety, and BPCL-Kochi Refinery) spoke on “Fire Safety of Petroleum Products and Management of LPG Incidents” and Mr Sojan Koshy (Manager, ARFF, CIAL) presented a paper on “Introduction to Disabled Aircraft Recovery:”
After the seminar employees of CIAL and other agencies participated in a fire extinguishing competition and the winners of the completion were awarded prizes and certificates by the Airport Director. A live demonstration of search and rescue operation from high rise building, followed by an operational demonstration of the newly procured Airfield Crash Fire Tender was also conducted for the public.
