Fifa partnership suspended by Interpol
The Interpol has suspended its Fifa partnership programs due to allegations of corruption against the football governing body. Interpol has stated that its partners should have the fundamental values of law enforcement. This agency is freezing the $20 million that was being donated by Fifa in 2010 for the partnership program. The Interpol has lost its confidence in the Fifa management due to its cases against combat match fixing and illegal gambling. Still Fifa is under the investigation in the US and Switzerland on account of its influence in bribery and corruption. The head of Interpol Jürgen Stock had made the announcement of suspending Fifa from their partnership. One of the spokesperson of Fifa had reported to the BBC that the whole organisation was quite disappointed by the Interpol’s decision on suspending them from the partnership. It was during last month that 14 current and former Fifa officials had been charged over corruption and bribery which followed a yearlong investigation by the US.
