Dispute between neighbors, court rules both parties should clean up Yamuna River

The Delhi High Court has announced a bizarre verdict in a dispute between neighbors. The court pronounced a single judgment on the accused and the plaintiff. Both were ordered to clean up the Yamuna River for 45 days. The verdict was announced by High Court Justice Jasmeet Singh. High Court Justice Jasmeet Singh directed the accused and the complainant to meet Delhi Jal Board team member (Drainage) Ajay Gupta within 10 days of the verdict.

Under Gupta’s advice and supervision, both parties must clean the Yamuna River for 45 days. The High Court informed that the Jal Board will issue certificates to the accused and the complainants after they are satisfied with the cleaning activities. This process should be completed within two months. Following an assurance by both parties that the provision would be complied with, the High Court in February 2022 quashed the FIR registered at the Jaipur police station on charges of assault, quarrel and torture.

Days ago, a quarrel broke out between two neighbors in Delhi. Both sides attacked each other and some were injured. The court’s order came after the matter reached the court and both the parties agreed to a compromise. However, the Jaipur police had registered a case in this regard. After the parties informed the High Court that they had settled the issue, Justice Jasmeet Singh agreed to quash the FIR on the condition that the parties clean the Yamuna River for 45 days.
