Digantara Targets $30 Million Revenue, Expands to U.S. for Defense Contracts

Bengaluru-based space tech firm Digantara announced plans to generate $25 million to $30 million in revenue over the next two years as it expands operations into the U.S. The startup aims to secure major defense contracts and tap into the $60 billion space surveillance and intelligence market. To support its growth, Digantara intends to invest $10 million to $15 million in establishing a spacecraft manufacturing and space optics production facility in Colorado over the next eight months.

The company revealed it has already signed contracts with multiple U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including the U.S. Air Force and Space Force, although specific details were not disclosed. As part of its expansion efforts, Digantara recently launched its first space-based surveillance satellite aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission. Equipped with cutting-edge electro-optical sensors, the satellite can track space objects as small as 5 cm in diameter.

With over 14,000 satellites, including 3,500 inactive ones, congesting low Earth orbit, space debris management has become a critical issue. “Our expansion into the U.S., particularly Colorado, enables us to collaborate closely with key stakeholders and accelerate space surveillance capabilities,” said Anirudh Sharma, co-founder and CEO of Digantara. The company’s move highlights the growing need for advanced solutions in space safety and traffic management amidst the booming commercial space sector.
