Delhi Woman Dies After Car Drags Her For 12 Kilometres On New Year Morning

According to authorities, a 20-year-old lady was killed after her scooter was hit by a car and she was dragged beneath the vehicle for 12 kilometres in Delhi this morning. The woman’s family claims she was sexually assaulted. According to police, five guys were in the car, a Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and they were apprehended. According to NDTV, the accused guys include a credit card collection agent, a driver, and the proprietor of a ration shop. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said he was “shocked at the horrible insensitivity of the culprits” and was keeping an eye on the situation.

“Even as every possible support/help and beyond, to the family of the victim will be ensured, I appeal to all to not resort to opportunistic scavenging. Let’s together work towards a more responsible and sensitive society,” he said in another tweet.

The event occurred this morning in Delhi’s Sultanpuri, several hours into the New Year’s Eve celebrations, which began at midnight.

According to authorities, after hitting her scooty, the car continued for 10-12 kilometres while her limbs became trapped in the vehicle’s underbelly.

The woman’s mother, Rekha, said the males sexually attacked her. “Her garments cannot be ripped totally off. When they discovered her, she was completely naked. I demand a thorough investigation and justice “She stated.

At 3.24 a.m., the police control centre received a call reporting that a car was observed carrying a body. At 4.11 a.m., police received another call reporting a woman’s body on the road. Following that, the police alerted officers stationed at picket lines and began hunting for the vehicle, according to news agency ANI.

Anjali, the woman, was an Aman Vihar resident. Her mother, four sisters, and two brothers, one nine years old and the other thirteen, survive her. She was the oldest child. Her father passed away several years ago.
