Delhi Minimum Temperature At 7 Degree Celsius As Biting Cold Continues

A temperature of 7 degrees Celsius was recorded at the Safdarjung station today, as the national capital remained bitterly cold and gloomy.
By 8:30 am today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) also noted that the temperature at Palam was 9.7 degrees celsius.

According to IMD, the northwest of India will experience fewer days of dense fog and cold weather during the next 48 hours, but a new wave of dense fog and cold weather is predicted to start there on December 31. RK Jenamani, a prominent scientist at IMD, has predicted that a new cold wave would occur from December 31 to January 1, 2023.

“Dense to very dense fog will continue to prevail in the belt. There will be an improvement on Dec 29 because of a western disturbance that will bring fresh snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Leh and Himachal Pradesh. There will be drizzle in north Punjab on Dec 29,” he had said.

According to Mr. Jenamani, there will be a noticeable improvement starting on December 28 as the cold wave will end due to a western disturbance.

A cold front and dense fog caused havoc in the nation’s capital, disrupting daily activity. In the area around the national capital, there was a layer of dense fog that made it difficult to see and move around. According to railway officials, many trains have been delayed as a result of the foggy weather, causing significant problems for passengers.

The Hyderabad-New Delhi Express, Kalka-Howrah Netaji Express, Gaya-New Delhi Mahabodhi Express, and Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express were all 1.30 hours behind schedule, according to railway officials.

As many as 100 flights were cancelled on Wednesday in Delhi alone, a city that is once again covered in a thick layer of fog while still dealing with extremely chilly temperatures.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the entire north of India is currently experiencing a cold wave and thick fog conditions, which have caused visibility to drastically decrease.
