Eid brings relief to J&K

The festival of Eid al-Adha has brought relief to the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which is going through a tough time. Fortunately, the Eid prayers in various mosques in the state have concluded peacefully. It is the first festival in the state since the bifurcation of the state. At this moment, the people in the state face several restrictions, which were imposed after the removal of Article 370 and the bifurcation fearing severe protest. Ahead of the commencement of the festival, some relaxations have been made to the restrictions.

No change has been made to the restrictions imposed on the communication system. The restrictions on the communication are likely to be in place for few more days.

At this moment, it remains unclear when the central government will remove all restrictions imposed upon the state in the aftermath of the bifurcation of the state and the removal of its special status.

Recently, the central government in the parliament introduced the bills seeking the bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with legislative assembly and the Union Territory of Ladakh without legislative assembly and the removal of the Article 370 which provides special status to the state.
