Congress forms political committee at national level; G23 leaders and members
Following the Chintan Shivir, the Congress formed a political affairs committee at the national level. The committee, headed by Sonia Gandhi, also includes 23 leaders. A special task force has also been appointed to look into the Lok Sabha elections. KC Venugopal has been included in both the committees. The committee was also set up to coordinate the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
At the Chintan Shivir, Sonia Gandhi had said that a committee would be appointed to give directions and advice to the party president on political issues. The Political Affairs Committee is made up of members of the Working Committee. The Political Affairs Committee has rejected the demand of Group 23 for a Parliamentary Board. Rahul Gandhi is a member of the committee headed by Sonia Gandhi. Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma were also included in the Political Affairs Committee in conjunction with Group 23.
The AICC joins the first meeting of the Special Task Force on Election Oversight, Finance and Organizational Affairs. The committee has eight members, including Priyanka, amid rumors that Priyanka Gandhi may run for the post of General Secretary in charge of elections. In Uttar Pradesh, the committee also includes Sunil Kanugol, who has mastered election tactics, including the BJP. Kanugolu is also on the committee. Kanugolu is a man who worked with Prashant Kishore and later broke up with him.
The committee was also set up to prepare for the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is scheduled to be held from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to recapture the lost vote bank. Shashi Tharoor MP is also a member of the nine-member committee headed by Digvijay Singh.
