Cockroach Janta Party Holds First Street Protest in Delhi
The founder of the viral Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Abhijeet Dipke, led the movement’s first street protest in New Delhi, marking its transition from social media activism to on-ground demonstrations. Hundreds of supporters gathered to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over recurring exam paper leaks and evaluation errors affecting students across the country.
The youth-led movement has gained massive traction since its launch in mid-May, attracting more than 22 million followers on Instagram. Dipke said the group represents the frustrations of students facing unemployment, examination controversies, and limited career opportunities. Protesters assembled near Jantar Mantar, where they raised slogans calling for accountability in the education system.
The movement has also drawn political attention after the government’s decision to block its X account in India, a move currently being challenged in court. Analysts say the group’s rapid rise reflects growing concerns among young Indians over unemployment and economic pressures, with CJP leaders promising to expand the campaign nationwide.
