Champions League: Defeat to Barcelona and United; Victory for Bayern, Chelsea and Juventus
The players took to the field to start the Champions League group matches. In Group E, Spanish powers FC Barcelona and Manchester United suffered a shock defeat in the first leg. Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Juventus won.
German giants Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona by three goals to nothing. Thomas Muller also found the target when superstar Robert Lewandowski scored a brace.
Manchester United lost to Swiss club Young Boys in the 13th minute through superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. However, in the 35th minute, defender Aaron van Bissaka was shown a red card and sent off. Coach Ole Gunnar Soldier brought in the defensive players after the forwards. With this, the team collapsed. The Youngboys equalized in the 66th minute through Maumi Engamelu in the second half. With just seconds left in the match, Theoson Siebach scored the winning goal for the Youngbays. In another match in the group, Vieira drew with Atlanta.
In Group H, Chelsea defeated Russian club Zenit by a single goal. Lukaku netted for Chelsea. In Group G, the Sevilla-Red Bull Salzburg match ended in a goalless draw.
