BJP’s Sonali Phogat’s Drink Was Spiked, 2 Accused Have Admitted, Say Goa Cops

Sonali Phogat, an actor and BJP activist, was allegedly forced to consume “some obnoxious substance” mixed with water by her two companions while out having fun in a Goa restaurant/nightclub, according to police reports based on security camera footage and purported admissions. She was escorted to the hotel where they were all staying after it because she “felt uneasy,” and the next morning she was brought dead to a hospital.

The two associates accused of killing Bigg Boss contestant Sonali Phogat, Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh, were reportedly detained yesterday night so they could not tamper with the evidence. “CCTV recordings of relevant premises were examined by the Investigating Officer and it was found that Sudhir was forcefully making Sonali to drink the alleged liquid in a water bottle,” the police statement read, before they left for the hotel, Grand Leonny.

Sonali Phogat, 42, was there when the alleged drink tampering occurred last Monday night while she was dining with the two guys at Curlie’s Restaurant, a well-known club. It was initially believed that she had suffered a heart attack when she was taken dead the following morning to St Anthony’s Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa. However, her relatives became suspicious and wanted a full investigation.

Police subsequently opened a murder investigation when Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also interfered, and yesterday’s post-mortem report revealed that “there are various blunt force injuries over the corpse.” According to the article, police should look into the death’s cause.

The murderers’ “intention was to take over her possessions and her assets and to end her political career,” according to Rinku Dhaka, her brother.
