BJP plans to woo Maratha community

In an effort to please the Maratha community, which constitutes nearly thirty-three per cent of the total population of Maharashtra, the BJP government is set to lay the foundation stone of the Chhatrapati Shivaji memorial. The BJP government is likely to pay nearly four thousand crore rupees for the entire projects. The initial phase of the project is scheduled to start next month.  As per the report, the senior BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to attend the grand ceremony. It seems that the BJP leaders are using this opportunity to fine tune its strength in the state and reaffirm their roots inside the most powerful Hindu community. For last few months, the Maratha community has been organising serious protest across the state demanding special reservation in education and job. As the congress community is keenly eying the Muslim-Dalit vote bank, it is a necessity for the BJP to protect each and every Maratha vote in their wallet in order to maintain their dominance in the Maratha mainland and reinstate their power. In coming days, the state is going to witness a serious of municipal and local body elections. These elections are very crucial for both ruling and opposition parties.   Notably, even though Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has agreed to attend the ceremony, the BJP’s prime ally in the state has had no participation in the planning or organising process. Anyway, lakhs of people from across the state is expected to participate in the ceremony. It is learned that the people are advised to bring sands and water from the land and river from the region they hail from.
