Bharat Taxi App to Launch in Delhi on Jan 1, Promising Stable Fares and Better Driver Pay
The Government of India–supported Bharat Taxi app is set to launch in Delhi on January 1, offering commuters an alternative to private cab aggregators amid frequent complaints over surge pricing. The platform promises transparent, stable and predictable fares, especially during peak hours and adverse weather conditions.
Bharat Taxi will offer multiple transport options, including auto-rickshaws, cars and bikes, allowing users to choose services based on affordability and convenience. A major highlight is its driver-friendly revenue model, under which drivers will earn over 80% of the total fare—significantly higher than what most private platforms currently offer.
The initiative has already received strong support from Delhi’s driver community, with nearly 56,000 drivers registered ahead of launch. Bharat Taxi’s entry aligns with similar state-backed mobility platforms across India, reflecting a broader push towards fair pricing for passengers and improved earnings for drivers.
